Taj Mahal Location
The

the architect before this monument was made to stand where it is. The strategic

Its location on the bank of the river Yamuna in Agra, India, is what gives it

Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor, built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his wife
Mumtaz Mahal. Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire during the reign of

Built in white marble, the Taj Mahal is flanked by four minarets and mosques
on each side. The four gardens in front of the Taj are divided by four waterways
that meet in a pool at the center.
The site of the Taj Mahal is such that one can see the Agra Red Fort from the
Taj. During his last days, Shah Jahan died watching his masterpiece from the
Agra Fort where his son Aurangzeb imprisoned him. And there from the prison
also the sight of the Taj Mahal could be seen from the window of the cell.
